Gordon Art Exhibition

Now that the hall is cleared the last picture is handed back and all the paperwork is done the team can take stock of this year's exhibition.

It's been a great success — we have enjoyed lots of very positive comments and compliments from the visitors and exhibitors. Paintings have been sold — perhaps not as many as were three years ago but that seems to be a trend that artists in general have become accustomed to. I would hope that success would not only be judged in terms of cash made — also in networking, joining in, volunteering, talking, learning new skills, getting to know new people, showcasing individuals' work.

Gordon Art Exhibition

As a member of the team of volunteers I have certainly enjoyed seeing the wonderful work displayed from artists — some new to the exhibition — some who come every year. I have found it heart warming how many people make up the extended team of helpers who put their names down year after year and how much they enjoy and support the exhibition. It's a credit to everyone involved — it can only be as good a show as all the helpers make it. In that way it's been tremendous!

We enjoyed the cafe atmosphere of the opening with a jazz duo on the stage, the life drawing classes with Graeme Fyfe over the weekend were very much enjoyed, the art talk by Maggie Nickson was fully subscribed, visitors enjoyed a coffee afterwards in Mitchells or Edwards using a voucher which tied in with the Go Local theme.

It all takes a huge amount of work from a great number of volunteers so a big thank you to everyone — a well done exhibition!
