Gordon Forum for the Arts

Web Statistics 2016–2017

23 August 2016 – 22 August 2017

(Previous reports covered 6 July 2015 – 5 July 2016)

These reports present a selection of the data available to us through Google Analytics, and were compiled for the Annual General Meeting of Gordon Forum for the Arts held on 23 August 2017. They provide a breakdown of traffic to the Gordon Forum website over the course of a year, from 23 August 2016 to 22 August 2017.

During the course of the year the website received 1091 visits from 924 visitors, making 2177 individual page views. These figures show a substantial decrease on last year, when we had 2208 visits from 1533 visitors, making 4223 individual page views.

The reports are presented as PDF documents.

This report breaks down the number of visitors by city. Aberdeen and Inverurie are the only cities to deliver more than 100 visits. Clifton comes next, ahead of London and Edinburgh. In previous years we have had a surprisingly large number of visits from various Brazilian cities; these seem to have diminished considerably this year.

Here we see what visitors declare to be their language. 53% declare GB English, with US English coming second at 44%. At least people are learning to set their language preferences on their computers!

How long do visitor stay once they reach our website? You might be shocked to learn that 74% of our visitors stay on the site for less than ten seconds. It is reassuring, though, that many stay for several minutes, indicating either that they are actually reading the information, or perhaps that they've gone off to make a cup of tea.

Browser & OS

What combination of browser and operating system do our visitors use? Chrome now seems established as the most popular browser, with Safari, Internet Explorer and Firefox following.

All Traffic

How do people find our website? This chart shows how many came via search engines ("organic"), and how many from links on other websites ("referral"). The entry "(direct)/(none)" indicates visitors who either typed the web address explicitly, or had already bookmarked the site. From the referrals in this chart you can see clearly which other websites are delivering visitors to our site through effective links, and by elimination you can work out who isn't and perhaps should be.

(previously "Organic Search Traffic")

A bit more detail on those who arrive via search engines – what did they actually type in the search engine to find us? Most of those near the top of the list are entirely predictable; some of those near the bottom are quite mystifying.

Which pages on our site did people look at? These are listed by page title, so "Gordon Forum for the Arts", for example, is the front page. Interesting to see that although the newsletter hasn't been published for a few years, some newsletter pages are still receiving many visits.
